Showreel – voicers from trial of Joshua and Jerome Ellis at Guildford Crown Court for 96.4 Eagle Radio
I provided freelance court reports from the trail of two young men accused of killing their mother’s partner for Eagle Radio. This was a complicated case with a number of legal issues, mostly down to the age of one of his accused. The key witness was the younger brother, 14 year old, Joshua Ellis. Due to his age he would ordinarily be anonymous. But I confirmed with the court clerk that in this reporting restrictions had been lifted and that he could be named, despite the fact he’d given evidence from behind a screen. I was able to summarise the day’s dramatic evidence into two short second voice clips – picking out the most newsworthy pieces of evidence whilst giving a balanced view of the day in court. These could then be used in different bulletins for the drive time programme. I used my iPhone and Dropvox to deliver my reports in a single take direct to the studio playout system, so that they would require no editing by the newsreader and could go straight on air at the earliest opportunity.
Quite a last day at Eagle Radio to finish a really brilliant two weeks.
I worked live from the scene of a police incident – involving an explosive device.
I sourced eyewitness interviews and delivered them directly to the newsroom from the scene for broadcast immediately. I also provided video and pictures for Eagle Radio website.
